Project Overview
Year:
2010
Location/Region:
South America / Brazil
The Waimea field is situated in the BM-C-41 block in the Campos Basin in a water depth of 427 feet (130 meters). OGX wholly owns and operates the field. In December 2009, OGX encountered an oil-bearing interval in the Albian section of well 1-OGX-3-RJS well. An oil column of 427 feet (130 meters) with more than 164 feet (50 meters) of net pay and a 30 percent porosity was encountered in carbonate reservoirs in the Albian section. OGX estimated the field holds recoverable oil volumes within the reservoirs ranges between 500 and 900 million barrels. Test results indicated good quality oil, estimated between 19 and 20 degree API.
