Marlin TLP
Marlin TLP
Project Overview
Year:
1999
Location/Region:
North America / Gulf of Mexico
The Marlin Tension Leg Platform is located 75 miles offshore Louisiana in Viosca Knoll Blocks 871 and 915 in 3,281 feet of water (1,000 meters.) The TLP is designed to produce 250 MMcf/d and 40,000 bpd. During the '90s BP was looking to build a hub platform to process oil and gas reserves. In 1999, the company constructed Marlin, a three-well TLP, with additional subsea tiebacks. Tendons to the seafloor tether the floating production platform, which consists of four column hulls connected by ring pontoons. The platform is able to process hydrocarbons from fields up to 30 miles away, making it a long-range asset.
